Closed-eye View

The room was white like her now-extinguished smile. The walls: indistinguishable in their distance, height and happiness form her; with her in the middle of the room. There were no entrance or exits in the form of windows, doors or vents... No hologrammed images to delude and hide any place of admittance or escape. Sunshine filled the room as if it were sealed in long ago and was now trying to burn its way out.

She sat center stage on a tiny cude, her knees pulled to her chest with her arms wrapped haphazardly around her ankles. She wore a white tanktop and white paracute pants, both shot through with sable thread, that dulled in comparison to the sharpness of her surroundings. She wore no shoes, but still wore her fingernails, toenails and lips in a color of red that everyone means to keep hidden. Her hair was the color of the bottom of an old Paul Revere copper-based tea kettle and whistled with an invisible wind just as easily. She wore very little jewelry: only a delicate, oval-shaped locket around her neck and a single silver band around the ring finger of her dominant right hand. Her eyes were rimmed by a dark shade of gray and dulled the color of her large eyes to only the color of fading denim surrounding a collapsing black hole.

Then, she blinked and when her eyes opened, it was as dark as it used to be light and she smiled that white again.
