"So, how long have you known?" he asked with a bit of anger.
"About three weeks," she spoke between whimpers of sadness.
"Are you going to have the child?" He hated this so much.
She wiped a tear from her eye and turned to face him. "I don't want to. I want an abortion. I want it soon too."
Taylor Hanson, father of an unborn child said to his girlfriend, Saralynn, something that would forever have an impact upon him. "Okay. Next weekend then. I'll pay for it and I'll be there for you. Think you can make the appointment?"
She wriggled deeper into his arms. "Yeah. Damn, I love you."
With a kiss on her forehead, he replied, "Ditto."
Zac winced in agony as her fists hit him once again. He shouted to the frantic mothers in the front seat to hurry. Having had enough of the unconscious abuse by his love, Melyssa, he maneuvered around a bit, them clamped her torso between his legs and carefully, but firmly, held her wrists to her chest.
He shouted to his mother, "How much longer?"
She yelled back, "A minute. Maybe two."
He held her closer and prayed that she would not be taken from him for a very long time.
She was sleeping now. He couldn't bring himself to let his eyes droop. She was too much of an angel when she was asleep. An angel in looks only, though. He fondly remembered the many times she had kicked him while she was sleeping by his side. He smiled, thinking back to the play "Antigone."
Antigone had been described as a hellcat. The phrase used had been something like, "Why would you want that hellcat in your bed?"
He'd want her there because he loved her.
She moaned and shifted in the narrow hospital bed that she had been placed in. He knew it must be horribly uncomfortable. She was used to sleeping on a queen-sized waterbed, next to him. Sure, he was still by her side, but he couldn't hold her close and feel her delicate skin barely brushing his.
He sat back and closed his eyes. The slow beeping of some machine slowed his internal rhythm to match hers. That, combined with the calm darkness of the room, made a powerful sedative to work upon Isaac Hanson.
"So, the appointment is all set?" Taylor asked.
Shakily, Saralynn replied. "Yeah. It's Saturday at four. It's going to cost $100 and you don't have to come if you don't want to."
He placed an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close. "Shh. It's going to be all right. I'll be there. Always."
She looked up at him with tears forming in the corners of her widened eyes. "Will you really? Will you really always be there?"
He stroked her cheek gently with his thumb and placed a light kiss upon her lips, laughing internally as she fought for more of his kisses. "Yeah. I will. I couldn't leave you. I love you."
A single tear rolled hrom her eye and made it's way down her cheek, tracing the thin line where his hand and her face still touched. Saralynn blinked back furthur tears and ravaged him in a tight hug that made him never want to let go. She spoke quietly, for only him to hear. "Ditto."
Zac clenched his teeth as she struggled beneath him. He heard from the front seat, "We're here!" He immediately released Melyssa and instantly regretted it when she sent a powerful blow to his groin, causing him to double over in a manly agony.
He moved to the other side of the vehicle to allow the hospital attendents room to remove her to the stretcher that they would most likelty strap her down to. As soon as they did, he slid from the vehicle into the very early morning air. As he stood, he winced in agony, knowing that he would have bruises in some very sensitive places for at least a little while.
He followed the stretcher into the hospital, knowing that the frantic mothers were behind him. He thought he saw Isaac's car in the parking lot, but dismissed it as a mere look-alike. He continued to walk forward, following his love.
Isaac awoke with a start. Krystle lay on the bed, coughing, though sleep still plagud her. He rose to his feet and rushed over to her. He sat her up a bit and held her, hoping the spell would pass soon. In only a short moment, it was over and Krystle was lying back down in her seeming sleeping bag of a bed.
He glanced at the watch that adorned his wrist and took notice that it was nearing the time when day would come. Rubbing his eyes, he stood and after a moment of hesitation, headed out of the room hoping that the hospital cafeteria would be open and serving coffee at this hour.
Stepping into the lobby, he saw his motherfrantically pacing in front of his brother, Zachary. Zac was crouched in a hard chair. He was holding a magazine, but obviously wasn't paying attention to it. Not only was it upside down, but it was "True Romance", something Zac would never be caught reading while he could concentrate. Something was obviously on his mind as he kept chewing his bottom lip, apparantly not noticing the blood that he was drawing.
Isaac cleared his throat and approached his mother. She turned to him, tears streaming from her eyes and enveloped him in a massive hug before pulling away and asking, "Is everything okay?"
