I was reading in a nice little review at SaucyBards about how you shouldn't put apologies on your site if you don't have anything to apologize about. So, that's why this isn't an apology. Instead, it is an explanation because I don't make excuses. It is also a bit of farce because later on in this piece I will be mocking a Hanson "fan."
Some people have said that I am wrong for writing about the members of Hanson being involved with sex, drugs and disease. They say I have no right. Well, actually, I've got a whole lot of right to do so. You see, I take an idea and I write it out and put in a few characters that people look up to and I give them a lot of conflict and some sort of "bad" thing to go through and I post it on my site. I write about these "bad" things happening to Hanson to be an example of what not to do. I don't condone having premarital sex with anyone you're not in love with. I don't condone the abuse of, let alone the use of, drugs, alcohol or tobacco products. I don't condone activities which would cause someone to get HIV or any other related disease, unless it's by a method that wasn't supposed to be hazardous and even then, I don't like it to happen. I write so people will read and see and think, "Y'know, I was going to go out and get drunk tonight.... but.. maybe that's not such a good idea. I've got a life I want to live. I don't want it ending tonight."
In a recent guestbook entry, someone wrote to me.. "where the hell do you get the right, to write stories about Taylor Hanson, or ANY of the Hanson's, having sex? WHERE? cus i would sure as hell like to know. you have no fucking right to write anything like that about them. unless you can show me, and everyone else, permission FROM Hanson themselves, i suggest you delete your story. you said yourself, that hanson fan fiction is fantasy. and you write a story about Taylor Hanson becoming HIV positive. you can stand there, and stick up for yourself, i don't care what the hell you have to say to this, just know, that i am right, and you are wrong. you are basically saying, that you fantasize about Taylor Hanson becoming HIV Positive, there for have a death wish on him, and you are not a true hanson fan. a true hanson fan, wouldn't right stories such as these, about their idols dying from AIDs. so do not for s second even call yourself a hanson fan, because you are not a true one. second of all, if you were taylor hanson reading this st[...]" Signed, unknown.
May I first gripe about grammar, proper vocabulary and, lest I forget this, punctuation and capitalization? I know my grammar, usage and verb tense sometimes needs a little help, but this... This is pitiful and exemplifies everything that is wrong with the "super-teenie mentality." So, let me go through and address each one of this girl's issues.
I get the right from the Bill of Rights. I have the right because it's not about them, just using their likenesses and names for characters. And gosh, I'm still waiting for that official letter to come from them endorsing my site and giving me permission. Now then, my "story"? Have you not looked around my site at all? There are at least 40 separate pieces of writing on this site and most of them would offend you because you jump to conclusions and refuse to use that one brain cell that you borrowed from the Spice Girls. Alos, I did not say that Hanfic is fantasy. I said it started out that way, but then evolved into something more meaningful and inspired. Which means, people like you stopped writing it and people like me started. (For those of you who are lost, that Hanfic comment from the Morals essay.) And, you're correct. A true Hanson fan wouldn't "right" stories like I do, but they might write them. You can go around to every site on the Internet that has ever even had a link up to a bit of Hanfic and scream your head off about what it right and what is wrong in that pathetic head of yours, but it won't get you anywhere. It might get you acknowledged by people like me who get bored quite easily and like to write, but in general, it'll just make you more hated than you must already be. And, see... you've got this wrong. I'M right, YOU'RE delusional. I'm a Hanson fan because I don't think they're a "static" group. I know that their music evolves. I know that they have done things that don't unhold their "super-squeaky-clean" image. I know that they're probably guilty of some of those "7 Deadly Sins" things. I would have loved to respond to the rest of what she wrote, but Beseen cut it off. Which may be a good thing since I have stories to type up. And, as far as signing it as "unknown"? Your message would be stronger if you at least put a name. Now, it's just laughable. And, if you're going to curse, limit it. Well-placed cussing is better than streams of curses. Unless you speak really good Italian.
I know I'm probably a little fanatical about stuff like this, but it gets to me that civilization as a whole has an IQ that is only as high as it is because of the occasional genius who pops out to show off to just a few more idiots. Where are the people that we were all taught about in history class? Where is the intelligence? And, cornily enough, where is the love?
Besides, didn't your mother or second grade teacher ever say, "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all,"? If not, then, go read that line again and again. It's nice to give someone criticism, but give constructive criticism. Tell someone what you like. Then, tell them what you didn't understand. Then, tell them what you didn't like. And finally, tell them what they can do to change it to make it better. Now then, I've got stories to write. They are far more important than some pitiful "unknown."
