The color of equality
When the cold winds come and before the white rains fall, something wonderful happens amid the trees. The leaves among the trees become beautiful shades of red, deep as blood and yellow bright as the sun. The oranges were in that they were the color of mans skin. It is said that Keeni, god of the sky and Nikiti, goddess of Nature fell in love and joined in the union of souls. They soon had three children, Sihoo god of water, Cuza goddess of wind and Suki god of the clouds.
As a gift from their parents the three children received the gift of color. Keeni and Nikiti joined forces and changed the color of the trees for each child. Sihoo received the deepest color red and Suki was given the brightest yellow. But Cuza his only daughter, the fragile one, did not want the deepest or the brightest color; she wanted to be the color of man. She wanted to represent both the white men and the dark men. So her father created a color with the best qualities of the white man and the best qualities of the dark man. This color had never been seen before and was an amazement to the people. Soon the white man and the dark man began to fight over land and Cuzas beautiful color was forgotten. As the tension between the white men and the dark men grew, Cuza began to feel sick. It is said she lost the will to live when the men were fighting with each other. Only when men can live in harmony will Cuzas beautiful color be appreciated most.
